England star Alex Scott caught in exciting three-way battle as one Premier League team takes the lead
England star Alex Scott’s profile is rising fast, and three Premier League clubs are keen to sign him in January.
Scott has had a great start to the season with Bournemouth and made his England debut just last week, coming on as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Czechia. He then played his first full game for England in the big 7-0 win against Croatia, controlling the midfield with Elliot Anderson and Jude Bellingham.
At just 23, he’s expected to be a regular in the England team for years. England coach Thomas Tuchel even called him “the complete package.” Several clubs feel the same way, with Tuchel’s old club Chelsea reportedly leading the race to sign him, according to The Telegraph. Journalist Matt Law says Chelsea are at the front of the line and really want to bring him in.
Liverpool and Arsenal also like Scott, and there are talks that Real Madrid have been watching him closely and might try to sign him too. But Chelsea have shown the most interest, making several offers last summer. After signing Enzo Fernandez from Manchester City, Chelsea reportedly offered more than £60 million for Scott, but Bournemouth said no.
Bournemouth want to keep Scott, but Chelsea are still interested and might try again in the summer. The club has also been trying to get Scott to sign a new contract, but talks haven’t really moved forward lately.
Scott has fans all over England, but a move to Chelsea or Arsenal would be a bit surprising since he’s a Spurs fan. There are even pictures of him wearing an old Spurs shirt, and he was clearly happy when he scored the winning goal for Arsenal against Bournemouth last April. He said his dad is also a big Spurs fan.
After that game, Scott said, “Yes, I support Tottenham, though that doesn’t really matter today. But growing up, scoring against Arsenal was a dream for me. Bournemouth is my team right now, but being a Tottenham fan as a kid made that goal extra special. My dad’s a Spurs fan too, and some friends came to watch the game, so it was nice to have them there.”
Scott will likely get more playing time in England’s match against Czechia on Tuesday before heading back to Bournemouth. His next club game is expected to be a big one too—against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, which could be a crucial moment for his future.
