John Fury shares the real reason he won’t be at Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua due to family issues

Tyson Fury’s dad, John, has made it clear that he won’t be at his son’s big all-British heavyweight fight against Anthony Joshua, and it’s for a simple reason.

Finally, after many years of the fight not happening, Fury and Joshua will face off at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in the early hours of December 12, battling for the WBA ‘super’ heavyweight title.

A lot of famous British stars and sports fans will be there, along with over 70,000 fans. But John has said he won’t be at the fight and will wait to hear the result instead of watching it live.

John’s health worries for Tyson are well known, and he has said he and his son stopped talking after their relationship “completely broke down” earlier this year.

Now John has spoken again, saying he won’t go to the fight because he’s even more worried about Tyson’s health. He told Playbook Boxing, “I don’t like the people involved, and I know accidents can happen. I’m not part of it, so I don’t want to go.”

He added, “I’ll do what his mum does – wait for someone to tell me who wins. I don’t need to sit there feeling like a spare guest at a wedding.”

John also said he doesn’t support the fight because it could be dangerous. “There’s nothing more I can do for Tyson,” he said. “As a dad with kids, I worry about brain damage. If he got hurt badly, the money wouldn’t matter.”

He thinks it’s risky for both Tyson and Joshua. “It feels like an accident waiting to happen. When you keep boxing too long, something bad can happen.”

During the same interview, John also called out his brother Peter, who coached Tyson from 2012 to 2017 and recently said he gave Joshua some advice.

Peter admitted speaking to Joshua a couple of months ago, which upset John deeply. He called Peter a “cockroach” and said he would never talk to him again.

“If he’s helping Joshua in any way, that makes him the lowest form of human,” John said. “Even thinking about it shows he can’t be trusted. If he’s secretly helping, he’s a total snake.”
