Jordan Henderson’s celebration after scoring for Chelsea against Bournemouth has everyone buzzing.
Liverpool fans are feeling a bit upset with their former captain, Jordan Henderson, after his great game for Chelsea in their big 5-1 win over Bournemouth.
Henderson made one of the most surprising moves this summer, joining Chelsea after ending his contract with Brentford. Many people doubted him, but he quickly proved them wrong by scoring two goals in the match. However, some Liverpool fans didn’t like the way he celebrated, especially when he tapped the Chelsea badge.
After a break for international games, Chelsea played Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. Coach Xabi Alonso picked a strong team, including players like Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro, and Morgan Rogers. But it was Henderson who scored early, just two minutes into the game, and then set up the second goal right after. Chelsea controlled the game, with Pedro scoring twice and Bournemouth getting one goal from Evanilson. Henderson scored again with an amazing free kick in the 70th minute, but his celebration caused some fans to react online.
One Liverpool fan wrote, “Jordan Henderson tapping the Chelsea badge. He’s Liverpool’s greatest PL captain, for goodness’ sake.” A Chelsea fan added, “Liverpool let Jordan Henderson go just for him to come here and score braces? That’s personal to Liverpool fans.” Another fan said, “I was just telling my friend how good Henderson is, then he scores a free kick and taps the badge. Dead to me.”
This game was only Henderson’s second for Chelsea since his move. When he joined, some Liverpool fans felt he betrayed the club by signing for a big rival. While not all fans think that way, people did wonder why he or Chelsea would make this move now in his career.
Henderson explained in his first interview after joining Chelsea that the move was an easy choice. “With the club’s history, the manager I really admire, and the quality of players, this was a huge chance I couldn’t pass up,” he said. “I was also impressed with how much the owners want Chelsea to succeed. I’m excited to give my all every day, on and off the field, to help the team.”
The switch has certainly sparked lots of talk, and fans are watching closely to see how Henderson’s time at Chelsea unfolds.
