Football Manager streamer shockingly dropped player after a real-life meeting he just couldn’t forget

A popular Football Manager streamer recently decided to release one of his former classmates simply because he didn’t like him. Football Manager 27, the newest football management simulation game from Sports Interactive, officially launches on November 10. But thanks to an early access preview, gamers have already had a chance to dive in for a short time.

The game lets you live the life of a football manager, handling everything from tactics and team lineups to transfers. It also gives room for a bit of playful pettiness, which was clear during a stream by HoodGamingUK. Steve Hood, who runs this channel and has 28,000 followers on TikTok and 38,000 subscribers on YouTube, shares his Football Manager journeys regularly.

In one save from FM24, Hood took control of Weston-Super-Mare, a team in the National League South. He went viral for deciding to release striker Marlon Jackson, which meant paying the player a £12,000 fee. The move wasn’t because of his skills but simply because Hood didn’t get along with Jackson when they were younger.

Football Manager is known for being very realistic. Some players have even messaged managers in the game to chat about their virtual careers. Hood explained, “This is a really interesting one. I went to school with this guy. Marlon was in my year at school. I personally thought he was a bit of a n**head. Sorry Marlon. Bye.”

Jackson, born in 1990, started out at Bristol City but only made five appearances. He spent time on loan at several clubs before playing for many others over his career, including two separate spells with Weston-Super-Mare, where he scored an impressive 39 goals in 85 games. At 35, he’s still playing for Yate Town in the Southern Premier Division.

Despite the drama, Jackson hasn’t responded to Hood’s decision. In the game, Jackson wasn’t a key player—his ability rating was 55, with potential to reach 68, and he had a modest one-and-a-half star rating. He was described as “fairly professional” and was mainly used as a target man earning about £250 a week.

If you’re interested, Football Manager 27 is available now for pre-order on Xbox and PC. The full price is £49.99, but you can get 16% off on the Fanatical website, plus an extra 5% off with the code SPORTBIBLE5, bringing it down to £39.89.
