Former Liverpool manager Arne Slot is enjoying the perfect football break after saying no to four job offers.

Arne Slot’s time at Liverpool came to an end on the day of the 2026 Champions League final – just one year after he helped the team win the Premier League in his very first season. He still had a year left on his Anfield contract and reportedly received £6.9 million when he was let go.

After his departure, Slot shared a heartfelt message saying his bond with Liverpool “goes beyond football” and that he leaves with full confidence about what’s next. Instead of rushing back into coaching, he’s been working with UEFA’s Technical Observer Group, analyzing Champions League matches and creating detailed reports on coaching and tactics.

In September, Slot visited his old club Feyenoord for a match against PEC Zwolle, a club he played for from 2010 to 2013. More recently, he’s been exploring South America, starting with a trip to the famous La Bombonera stadium in Buenos Aires. There, he watched the intense Boca Juniors vs. River Plate derby, sporting a retro Diego Maradona Boca jersey as Boca won 1-0.

Sharing a photo on Instagram, Boca fan Juan Mercoli said, “Thanks for your visit to the best fanbase in the world,” showing his excitement about Slot’s visit. But Slot’s journey didn’t stop there. He then traveled to Rio de Janeiro to see Flamengo play Gremio at the iconic Maracana stadium. He was joined by his son Joep, both wearing Flamengo shirts – Arne’s featuring Brazil legend Zico’s name, and Joep’s customized with his own.

Brazilian journalist Lucas Bayer shared a video of Flamengo’s president giving Slot a personalized team shirt. Flamengo, with several ex-Premier League stars like Jorginho and Saul Niguez, won 3-1.

Though Slot has been enjoying this football adventure, he hasn’t been short on job offers. Fulham reportedly wanted him before choosing Alvaro Arbeloa, and both AC Milan and Al Ahli showed interest, but Slot declined. He also turned down a big chance to coach the Netherlands national team after Ronald Koeman left, explaining he prefers working daily with club players on the training pitch.

Slot did say it would be an honor to coach his country one day but feels now isn’t the right time. For now, he’s focused on living out his dream football experiences – the kind most of us can only imagine!
