Lewis Hamilton says the Ferrari boss still hasn’t cleared things up with Charles Leclerc after their important meeting.
Lewis Hamilton has opened up about an important chat he had with Charles Leclerc and Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur after some tension between the two drivers. Lewis had been sharing his frustrations in the media, feeling that Charles had cost him a win at the Mexico GP.
After that, the three of them got together to talk things through, and Hamilton has now shared some details about their conversation.
There was some talk that Lewis was trying to prove he’s the number one driver at Ferrari, especially after the Mexico incident. To sort things out, Vasseur called a meeting in Brazil, reminding both drivers that the team comes first. He said, “They’re both strong competitors, but they need to respect each other, and more importantly, respect the team and all the people supporting them.”
After a wet qualifying session, Lewis was asked what he thought about the meeting. He said, “Fred hasn’t fully cleared the air between me and Charles, but Charles and I talked it out and moved on. We still have a lot of respect for each other, and I’m glad we had that chat. There are no hard feelings or demands, just sharing thoughts on how to improve and support each other.”
Lewis’s calmer tone was a bit different from what he said right after Mexico and at the start of the Brazil weekend. He added, “Charles is only 28, so it’s not about age but more about mindset. Sometimes it feels like ‘win or lose for either of us,’ but it shouldn’t be that way.”
Charles Leclerc agrees that things are settled now. He said, “It was good to have the talk together. It’s been a crazy week for me, especially since I became a father for the first time! We needed to clear up any leftover frustration, and now I think it’s all resolved. We shouldn’t keep talking about it anymore.”
