US President Donald Trump recently shared that he made one last request to Dana White before the UFC event at the White House. The event, called Freedom 250, will take place on the South Lawn of the White House to celebrate the USA’s 250th anniversary of independence on June 14.

UFC President Dana White announced the lineup last month, with Ilia Topuria set to defend his lightweight title against Justin Gaethje as the main fight. Trump was at UFC 327 in Miami over the weekend, and during the event, he asked White to include UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis on the card. White confirmed Lewis will fight Josh Hokit at the event.

But Trump’s involvement doesn’t stop there. He also suggested changing the event’s name to “UFC 1776” to honor the year the Declaration of Independence was signed. Normally, the UFC numbers their pay-per-view events in order, with UFC 327 being the latest. When a reporter asked Trump about changing the name, he said, “That’s a good idea. I’ll tell Dana White. I like that idea.”

Trump went on to say he’s been part of many big events but never seen one with this much excitement. They’re building a 4,500-seat arena right at the White House front door, plus space for tens of thousands more outside, with big screens showing the fight. He says it’s a very popular sport, and having a fight at the White House is something special.
