Jannik Sinner’s answer to the GOAT question after beating Rafael Nadal’s record

Jannik Sinner gave a humble answer when asked about comparing himself to the greatest tennis players after breaking Rafael Nadal’s record. There’s no doubt that the current world No. 1, Sinner, is on his way to becoming one of the top players in recent years.

After his latest win in the third round of the Madrid Open, some fans even think the 24-year-old could become the greatest ever. The Italian beat Elmer Moller 6-2, 6-3, reaching the fourth round and marking his 24th straight win at the Masters 1000 level.

This means Sinner broke Nadal’s record of 23 straight wins, with his amazing form helping him win titles in Paris, Indian Wells, Miami, and Monte Carlo. He is now just a few wins away from beating Roger Federer’s record of 29 and Novak Djokovic’s record of 31 consecutive wins.

But when asked about the comparison with Nadal, Djokovic, and Federer, Sinner stayed modest. “No, not really,” he said. “I’ve always said I don’t compare myself to these great players. They’ve done so much in their careers, and I’m just starting out. They are on a different level.”

He added, “I’m happy to be here, playing as many matches as I can. What they did is something special. I just try to give my best every match. If I win, great. If not, I have no regrets.”

Right now, Sinner is the favorite to win the Madrid Open after Carlos Alcaraz withdrew. If he wins the title, it would bring him to 28 straight Masters 1000 wins, just one short of Federer’s record.

However, he has a tough match coming up against Britain’s Cameron Norrie on Tuesday, fighting for a spot in the quarterfinals.
