Two legends have agreed to part ways with WWE after making a joint decision.

It looks like WWE is going through a big shake-up right now, as they’ve just announced that two more wrestlers are leaving. After WrestleMania 42, WWE revealed that 22 wrestlers had been released from their contracts. Soon after, Carlee Bright shared on social media that she was also let go.
Now, fans have learned that two WWE legends, who many will remember fondly, have parted ways with the company. Reporters Sean Ross Sapp and Cory Hays from Fightful shared that Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have mutually decided to leave WWE.
Kofi Kingston joined WWE’s developmental system 20 years ago and made his main roster debut in 2008. Born in Ghana, Kofi became a huge star, winning multiple titles like the Intercontinental Championship four times, the United States Championship three times, and even the WWE Championship.
Xavier Woods signed on in 2010 and debuted on the main roster in 2013. He found success too, winning the King of the Ring tournament. Both Kofi and Xavier were part of the famous group The New Day, along with Big E. This team started in July 2014 as happy-go-lucky gospel-style wrestlers but didn’t connect with fans at first.
After a short break from TV, WWE changed The New Day into villains and let the wrestlers add their own personalities. When they came back, The New Day became one of the most popular and longest-lasting groups in WWE. They set records with 13 tag-team title reigns, including the longest Raw tag-team championship run of 483 days. They also used the “Freebird Rule,” rotating who defended the tag titles.
Sadly, The New Day ended when Big E suffered a broken neck in 2022, which ended his wrestling career. But Kofi and Xavier kept teaming up. In February 2026, Woods announced he had a shoulder injury and needed some time off. He hadn’t returned before it was announced he and WWE were going separate ways.
Kofi kept wrestling and even teamed with Grayson Walker in an attempt to win the WWE tag team titles on April 17 but didn’t succeed. WWE fans will be sad to see The New Day break up, as this marks the farewell of two modern wrestling greats.
