Kylian Mbappe’s behavior during Real Madrid’s loss to Barcelona in La Liga got everyone talking.
Kylian Mbappé’s actions during Real Madrid’s 2–0 loss to Barcelona in El Clásico have stirred quite a bit of buzz. Marcus Rashford’s incredible free-kick and Ferran Torres’ goal helped Barcelona celebrate their third La Liga title in four years at a lively Camp Nou.
With this win, Barcelona pulled 14 points ahead of second-place Real Madrid, a gap that Real can’t close with only three games left in the season.
The week before the match was tense, as Real’s midfielders Aurélien Tchouaméni and Fede Valverde had a training fight. Valverde ended up in the hospital with a small cut on his head and missed the big game. Both players were fined £432,000.
Mbappé has also been in the spotlight recently. Reports say he had a disagreement with a coach and was even seen on holiday the same day Real played Espanyol. Fans started a petition called ‘Mbappé Out’ that has nearly 74 million signatures so far.
He’s currently sidelined with a hamstring injury from a game against Betis in late April. According to Spanish news site Marca, Mbappé did join training with the team before the Barcelona match but pulled out just before the last practice session.
Even though Mbappé wasn’t at Camp Nou, he watched the game on TV and shared a photo of his screen on Instagram with the caption “Hala Madrid [white heart]” while Real was already down 2–0. This upset many fans online.
One fan said, “I can hear his laughter from here.”
Another wrote, “Posting this when they’re two goals down — he’s definitely trolling.”
A third commented, “If I scored 40 goals a season and half the fans blamed me for the team’s problems, I’d probably react the same way.”
Someone else added, “He could have posted something at the start when the score was 0–0. Instead, he waited until they were losing 2–0 — that’s pretty low.”
Real Madrid will get back on the pitch at home against Oviedo on May 14.
