Man City is in talks to bring back their £50m star from another Premier League team.

Manchester City are said to be interested in signing a current Premier League player who left the club back in 2022.

With Pep Guardiola confirmed to be leaving, it looks like it will be a time of big changes for Man City. Enzo Maresca, who used to manage Chelsea and Leicester City, is expected to take over as manager before the 2026/27 season.

Some experienced players like John Stones and Bernardo Silva will also be moving on next season, so City will need to fill important spots in midfield and defense.

From now until the transfer window closes on September 1, City will probably be linked with several players as Maresca tries to shape his team. The team will likely continue to rely on stars like striker Erling Haaland, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, midfielders Rodri and Rayan Cherki, and wingers Jeremy Doku and Antoine Semenyo. But new players could also join the squad in Manchester.

One possible new signing might come from another Premier League club. According to Spanish news outlet AS, City are interested in Tottenham’s right-back Pedro Porro, even though Spurs are trying to get him to sign a new contract that would keep him at the club until 2028.

City have reportedly reached out to Porro, while Tottenham are asking for around £50 million for the 26-year-old Spain international. Spurs’ manager Roberto De Zerbi really wants to keep Porro and sees him as an important player for next season.

AS explains: “Tottenham have talked with Porro about extending his contract, but haven’t convinced him yet. Meanwhile, Manchester City, who have had some trouble with their right-back position, have already contacted the player about a possible transfer, even before the World Cup. Both Porro and Tottenham know about City’s interest, and the London club doesn’t want to lose an important team member without a fight. But if City want him, they’ll need to make a strong offer. Tottenham’s starting price is £50 million, or just over €57 million.”

Interestingly, Porro was at City before, from 2019 to 2022, after joining from sister club Girona. However, he never played a first-team game for City and left for Sporting CP in 2022.

Since then, Porro has played 152 games for Spurs, scoring 13 goals and providing 26 assists. He even helped Tottenham win the Europa League in 2025.

Porro currently earns about £85,000 a week but would likely expect a much higher salary if he joined City this summer.
