Marcus Rashford’s future just got a bit more complicated, after news came out that a move to Barcelona might be completely off the table if Anthony Gordon and Bernardo Silva end up joining the team.

Rashford, who joined Barcelona on loan from Manchester United last summer, has been playing regularly for the recent La Liga champions, scoring 14 goals in all competitions. At one point, it seemed almost certain he would stay at Camp Nou beyond this season. In February, Mundo Deportivo even said it was “very likely” he would make the move permanent.

Barcelona has an option to buy Rashford for about £26.2 million. But things have changed recently. This week, Barcelona made an offer of around £70 million for Newcastle United’s forward Anthony Gordon, who also plays on the left side. Gordon even traveled to Barcelona this Thursday for a medical, and he’s expected to earn about £300,000 per week.

Besides Gordon, Barcelona is also seriously thinking about signing free agent Bernardo Silva. Spanish paper SPORT says the club’s management and Silva’s agent, Jorge Mendes, have made a lot of progress in talks. Silva is valued for his leadership and his ability to play multiple positions, including midfield and right wing.

So, what does this mean for Rashford? With Gordon and Silva possibly joining, it looks like there won’t be space for the Manchester United forward. According to reports, with Silva and Gordon coming in, there would be no room left in the squad for Rashford.

Silva is keen to join Barcelona, even though Atletico Madrid and Benfica have offered him deals, The Times reports.

After the last game of the season, Rashford was asked if he would still be at Barca next season. He said, “I don’t know. I’m not a magician, but if I was, I’d stay. We’ll see. I came here to win. I want to win as much as I can. This is one more thing to add to that.”

He also added, “This is a great team, and they’re going to win a lot in the future. Being part of that would be special.”
