Former Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood is said to be the top target for a big European club.

Even though he scored 16 goals and made seven assists in 32 games last season, finishing as Ligue 1’s joint second-highest scorer, Greenwood’s time in southern France seems to be coming to an end.

Just last week, Marseille’s sporting director Gregory Lorenzi told French news outlet L’Équipe that the club is open to offers for the 24-year-old. He said, “We are thinking about his future. If a good opportunity comes up, we will consider it. But it’s also about what the club and the player want. We need to find the best solution for everyone.”

Reports say Marseille value Greenwood at around €55 million (£47.5 million). He still has three years left on his contract.

Greenwood left Manchester United in July 2024, after not playing since his 2022 arrest. He faced serious charges but has always denied them, and the UK Crown Prosecution Service later dropped the case. Because of this, many clubs stayed away until he joined Spanish club Getafe on loan in 2023, then moved permanently to Marseille in 2024.

Despite his strong goal record at Marseille, it looks like Greenwood might move again. BBC Sport reports that he’s the main transfer target for both candidates running for president at Turkish club Fenerbahçe. Aziz Yildirim, who was president from 1998 to 2018, and Hakan Safi are the candidates.

Fenerbahçe finished second in the Turkish Süper Lig last season for the fifth year in a row behind rivals Galatasaray, even after signing top players like Ederson, Marco Asensio, and Kerem Aktürkoğlu in 2025.

When United sold Greenwood to Marseille for £26.6 million, they reportedly included a sell-on clause, so they would earn money if he is sold again.

Greenwood has also caught the eye of Serie A club Roma. Meanwhile, Fenerbahçe is also interested in players like Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy, AC Milan’s Rafael Leão, free agent Mohamed Salah, and Atlético Madrid’s Alexander Sørloth.
