Good news for Arsenal as Barcelona ‘offers’ a proven goal scorer for a transfer!
Barcelona might have the chance to sign a top forward, and this could actually help Arsenal this summer. After winning their first Premier League title in 22 years last season, Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta will work closely on transfer plans during the summer window.
Last summer, Arteta brought in players like Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga. Even though Arsenal won the title, they’ll still be active in the transfer market as they aim to keep their crown and hopefully win the Champions League for the first time.
The transfer window opens officially on June 15, but Arsenal have already been linked with players like Eli Junior Kroupi, Nathaniel Brown, Morgan Rogers, and Leicester City’s young talent Jeremy Monga.
One of the biggest stories is about Julian Alvarez, the forward who used to play for Manchester City and now plays for Atletico Madrid. Both Arsenal and La Liga champions Barcelona are interested in him. Barcelona have reportedly made a whopping £77.9 million offer, which seemed to annoy Atletico. The Spanish club even joked about sending Barcelona a funny counter-offer involving concert tickets and sunflower seeds!
Paris Saint-Germain were also said to be after Alvarez but seem less interested now, leaving Arsenal and Barcelona as the main contenders for the Argentine striker.
Here’s where things get interesting: Spanish news outlet SPORT says Barcelona have been offered the chance to sign Galatasaray’s star striker Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian forward is popular in Istanbul, scoring 59 goals in 74 games since joining from Napoli in 2024. He’s helped Galatasaray win two league titles and the Turkish Cup. Osimhen is under contract until 2029 and has been suggested to Barcelona through middlemen, who admire his goal-scoring skills.
However, SPORT reports that Alvarez is still Barcelona’s main target, and they believe a deal for him is possible. If Osimhen does join Barcelona, it could actually help Arsenal’s chances of signing Alvarez. According to the report, only a very surprising change in Alvarez’s transfer would make Barca look at other options like Osimhen, which seems very unlikely.
After Arsenal’s tough loss to PSG in the Champions League final on May 30, Arteta told the club they need to be “ambitious and smart” this summer. “I’ll take a few days off with my family first, then we’ll review what we’ve done,” he said. “We’ll have to make some important decisions if we want to reach the next level. We need to show ambition because we can do it, but it will require us to be quick, smart, and very determined.”
