A behind-the-scenes video has popped up showing Thomas Tuchel giving an inspiring talk to his England players ahead of this summer’s World Cup – and fans are really enjoying it.
We’re just nine days away from England’s first Group L game against Croatia, which will be Tuchel’s first World Cup match as head coach.
The 52-year-old took over from Gareth Southgate last October and has already won nine big trophies in his career, including three league titles, three domestic cups, and the Champions League.
Earlier this month, Tuchel spoke about aiming to add the World Cup to his list of successes.
“When I got back to the team and put together training and meetings in Florida, I saw a lot of quality,” he told Sky Sports. “That made me really believe we can go far.”
Tuchel is confident England can do well this summer, and he made that clear during a speech at St George’s Park in March.
In the video from England’s YouTube channel, Tuchel says, “It’s really important to talk about this. The goal is clear—our second star on the shirt.”
He also talked about how international football is different from club football, something some England players have found hard to adjust to before.
“It’s not just about football,” he said. “It’s not just about how we attack or defend or set pieces. That’s a big part, but international football is about something more.
“I spoke to a World Cup winner who said the difference between the quarter-final and the win was the same quality players, but they became a true brotherhood, ready to give everything for each other.
“It wouldn’t have mattered if the camp lasted two months—we would have stayed that long because we loved each other. Let’s build something special here, guys. Let’s go.”
Later in the video, Tuchel points to a board showing the “Mr Everest Summit,” which highlights six key training camps.
“I want us to reach the top when things get tough, even in the toughest group,” he said. “When we land, we’ll already know this is a great camp and a team nobody wants to face.
“They’ll feel it—in the mixed zone, in the tunnel—they’ll smell it.”
Many fans were impressed by Tuchel’s words at St George’s Park, with some saying the Three Lions could win their first World Cup since 1966 with him leading the way.
One fan wrote, “Just saw this clip of Tuchel with England. He might actually win the 2026 World Cup. Knockout tournaments are his thing—you can see how he motivates the team. That’s why he won trophies at Chelsea.”
Another said, “Love this. No matter what you think about the squad, this is a manager who CAN win the World Cup. Let’s get behind him and the lads.”
A third added, “Yeah, it’s coming home,” and a fourth said, “I’ve seen enough—it’s coming home.”
