Liverpool and Manchester United might go head-to-head this summer as they both look to boost their squads for next season. The two big rivals are keen on adding a new attacker, and Bazoumana Toure seems to be catching their eye.

The 20-year-old winger is said to be one of the most wanted players in Europe, with six Premier League clubs linked to him. According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool’s interest is the strongest right now—they’ve officially told German club TSG Hoffenheim they want him. They see Toure as a long-term option for their left wing, though he can also play on the right.

Manchester United is also firmly in the race to sign Toure as they want to strengthen their forward line. Toure had a great first full season in the Bundesliga, scoring five goals and providing 12 assists in 30 league games.

But it won’t be easy for Liverpool or United, as there’s tough competition this summer. Aston Villa is very interested after qualifying for the Champions League, and Newcastle United is also pushing to sign him. Brighton and Brentford have reportedly looked into a move as well.

Hoffenheim might need to sell Toure since they missed out on the Champions League. Even though he’s contracted until 2029, they’d likely accept a big offer to set a club-record transfer fee. The report values Toure at about £43 million, which beats Hoffenheim’s previous top sale when they sold Joelinton to Newcastle for £40 million in 2019. Liverpool knows the club well, having signed Roberto Firmino from them for £29 million back in 2015.

Toure’s contract doesn’t have a release clause, so Hoffenheim controls what happens next and will want the best possible deal. Moving to the Premier League would be a huge step for the young player. He only joined Hoffenheim from Swedish club Hammarby IF in February 2025, and before that, he had just moved to Hammarby from his home club ASEC Mimosas in the Ivory Coast in March 2024.
