Alvaro Arbeloa is almost making a surprising move to the Premier League after leaving Real Madrid.

Alvaro Arbeloa’s time as Real Madrid manager came to an end last week when Jose Mourinho took over the job. It wasn’t a surprise since Arbeloa, who stepped in after Xabi Alonso, didn’t win any trophies during the season. Real Madrid lost out to Barcelona in La Liga and the Supercopa de España, and also got knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Albacete.

Now, Arbeloa looks ready to start a new chapter as the manager of Premier League club Fulham. This happened after Marco Silva decided to leave Fulham at the end of the season to manage Benfica, taking over from Mourinho. According to Fabrizio Romano, Arbeloa, who used to play for Liverpool, is expected to move to London to grow his coaching career.

Arbeloa will be based in West London, close to Alonso, who became Chelsea’s manager earlier this summer. This means the two will soon be leading rival clubs in the same area.

Some fans might be surprised Fulham picked Arbeloa, especially since there are many experienced Premier League managers available. But as Alex Crook reported, Arbeloa was the top choice after the club looked into several options with Premier League experience. They considered managers like Ange Postecoglou, who won a trophy with Tottenham in 2025 and also managed Nottingham Forest last season.

Fulham also checked out Thomas Frank, who replaced Postecoglou at Spurs, and Frank Lampard, now managing Coventry City. Kieran McKenna, who recently helped Ipswich Town get promoted to the Premier League, was another option. However, McKenna isn’t interested right now, as he wants to take a break from coaching.

With positive talks happening, Arbeloa’s move to Fulham looks closer than ever!
