Liverpool star quickly changes mind about leaving the club after Andoni Iraola is named coach
A Liverpool star is said to have changed his summer transfer plans since Andoni Iraola took over as head coach, replacing Arne Slot.
The Reds let go of Slot just a year after he helped them win their second Premier League title in 35 years. Unfortunately, the team struggled last season and finished fifth. Liverpool waited until things calmed down before deciding to make a change, choosing Bournemouth’s Iraola as the new boss at Anfield.
This new coaching change has brought fresh energy as the club gets ready for a big summer. Mohamed Salah will leave when his contract ends soon, Andy Robertson has already joined Tottenham Hotspur, and Ibrahima Konate is likely to head to Real Madrid. More players might leave in the next few months, but one player who planned to leave is now thinking twice.
Journalist Mirko Di Natale from Tutto Juve says Federico Chiesa has reconsidered his move after the new manager arrived. The 28-year-old now wants to stay and prove himself as a solid part of the team under Iraola. Still, he understands that the final choice is the club’s, and he’s open to leaving if they decide he’s not needed.
Last season, Chiesa scored three goals and assisted three more in 36 games, mostly coming on as a late substitute. He has made just 50 appearances for Liverpool so far, and it seems unlikely he’ll have a bigger role under Iraola. He is seen more as a backup player and might stay low in the pecking order as Liverpool looks to refresh their attack this summer.
Liverpool has already been linked with moves for RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola, and possibly bringing back Darwin Nunez from Al-Hilal. Iraola will have the final say on transfers and will check out Chiesa during pre-season before deciding his future.
