Roberto De Zerbi is eager to bring new energy to Tottenham Hotspur after a tough fight to avoid relegation in the 2025/26 season. To do that, Spurs are planning a bunch of new signings, and Manchester City has become a key place for them to look for talent.

The rebuild has already started, with Premier League-level players joining the team at their shiny new stadium. De Zerbi has also spotted a star player he really wants: Sandro Tonali, who might be leaving Newcastle soon. Spurs are trying some unusual deals to make that happen.

Continuing with their plan to sign proven stars, Spurs are now eyeing attacking players from Liverpool and Manchester City. Recent rumors suggest they might pull off a big move at the Etihad Stadium.

After showing interest in Brazilian winger Savinho this summer, Spurs are now keen on Omar Marmoush. Tottenham’s attack has been struggling, especially with key players like Dejan Kulusevski still recovering, Mohammed Kudus dealing with an ACL injury, and Dominic Solanke not finding his form. Summer signings like Randal Kolo Muani, Mathys Tel, and Wilson Odebert haven’t quite found their rhythm either, leaving De Zerbi looking for stronger scoring options.

Now, Omar Marmoush is said to be a top choice to lead the line next season. According to respected journalist Nicolò Schira, De Zerbi really likes him, and moving to Spurs would give Marmoush more playing time than he currently gets at Manchester City.

Marmoush, 27, joined City from Frankfurt in January 2025 for about £65 million. He’s scored or assisted 22 times in 61 games but has mostly been on the bench recently, with Haaland and Cherki ahead of him in the lineup. It’s a bit like what happened with Julian Alvarez, hoping for more chances to play.

Spurs will have to compete with Barcelona and Fenerbahçe, who are also interested in Marmoush. For now, Marmoush is focused on playing for Egypt’s national team. Egypt is topping their Group G and already through to the Round of 32 in the tournament.

Their last group game against Iran will decide Egypt’s next match. A draw or a win will secure the top spot and set them up to play one of the third-place teams in the next round.
