Manchester United are reportedly starting talks to sign a Premier League star, right after the World Cup ended.

It’s going to be a busy summer for the Red Devils. They’ve already agreed on a £35 million deal for Ederson, a midfielder from Brazil and Atlanta.

Earlier, United tried hard to sign West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes but didn’t want to meet the club’s price. That allowed Spurs to swoop in and sign him for a club-record £85 million.

However, United are still on the lookout for more players. According to Graeme Bailey from TEAMtalk, they’re very interested in Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr.

Since United will have more games next season in the Champions League, they want a versatile player who can play in different positions up front. Sarr fits that need perfectly, and the club has reached out to his representatives about a possible move this summer.

Sarr, who used to play for Watford, had his best season in 2025/26. He scored 20 goals in all competitions, helping Palace win the UEFA Conference League in Leipzig. He was also named Palace’s Player of the Season after scoring nine Premier League goals, catching United’s attention.

His strong World Cup performance for Senegal raised his profile even more. Sarr played a key role, scoring four goals and adding one assist. Senegal made it to the round of 32 and gave Belgium a tough game before eventually losing in extra time.

With Casemiro leaving for Inter Miami and Manuel Ugarte sidelined due to a knee injury, strengthening the midfield is a top priority for United. Still, they want to add another forward to compete with players like Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo, who have all been impressive in the Premier League.

Sarr joined Palace in 2024, after Michael Olise left for Bayern Munich. Palace paid £15 million to Marseille for him, and he later helped the team win the FA Cup and Community Shield under coach Oliver Glasner.

He still has three years left on his Palace contract, which means the club has strong hold in talks. They would likely want at least three times what they paid for him two years ago — and maybe more, given today’s transfer market.

Italian club Juventus is also said to be interested in Sarr, who has scored 23 goals in 87 appearances for Senegal.
