Spurs get ready to spend £80m right after signing Sandro Tonali
Tottenham Hotspur aren’t slowing down—they’ve already set their sights on another £80 million star as their next big signing. The Premier League transfer window has been open for less than three weeks, but Spurs are moving fast with some huge moves.
After a tough season where they finished 17th, just two points above the relegation zone, it’s clear the club wants new manager Roberto De Zerbi to have a strong squad ready to compete for a spot in Europe again.
This summer, Spurs have already made SIX signings! They started by picking up Andrew Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers from Liverpool and Bournemouth. Then they spent £52 million on Dutch defender Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton, who’s worked with De Zerbi before. They also signed goalkeeper Martin Dubravka for free, as Guglielmo Vicario is expected to leave.
On Tuesday, Spurs beat Manchester United to sign Portuguese midfielder Mateus Fernandes from West Ham for £85 million. Less than a day later, they broke their transfer record again, making a deal worth up to £100 million to bring in Sandro Tonali from Newcastle.
Now, Spurs have their eyes on Bournemouth’s rising star Eli Junior Kroupi, a left forward who impressed last season. Big clubs like Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are interested, but Bournemouth wants over £80 million—a price Spurs seem happy to pay and will chase hard in the coming weeks.
If that doesn’t work out, Tottenham are also looking at AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Manchester City’s Savinho for the wing, while talks are ongoing about signing City goalkeeper James Trafford.
So far, Spurs have spent a huge £237 million this summer, putting them 10th on the list of the biggest transfer windows ever. If they spend £80 million on Kroupi, they’ll top £300 million and move up to third place.
Right now, Liverpool leads the top 10, having spent around £414.5 million last summer, signing stars like Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak. Chelsea comes next with £391 million, bringing in 11 new players including Moises Caicedo and Christopher Nkunku.
If Spurs keep going as they have this summer—with signings like Kroupi and Trafford—they could climb even higher in the rankings, maybe even overtaking Liverpool one day.
