Sir Jim Ratcliffe is putting the whole Man United sister club team up for sale in a bold move.
Manchester United’s sister club, OG Nice, have reportedly put every player up for transfer this summer in a surprising move. The Ligue 1 team, mainly owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS since 2019, had a tough 2025/26 season and barely avoided dropping to a lower league.
After finishing fourth last season, Nice slipped to 16th place and had to play Saint Etienne from Ligue Two in the relegation playoffs. Luckily, they won 4-1 over two games and stayed in the top division. Still, winning only seven league games this season has led to big plans for change at the club.
French newspaper L’Equipe says that Nice needs to sell players to raise £34 million before they can sign anyone new. This means every player on the team is open to being sold. The club’s new sporting director, Roger Ricort, started on July 1 and has a big job ahead.
No one on the team is “off-limits,” but some players are more likely to leave. Terem Moffi, who was loaned to Porto, and Sofiane Diop, a Moroccan midfielder, earn some of the highest wages. Hicham Boudaoui, Melvin Bard, and Mohamed-Ali Cho might also move on. The futures of vice-captain Morgan Sanson, Kojo Peprah Oppong, and Antoine Mendy are worth watching too.
Veteran defender Dante retired and won’t be back next season, but Nice has already signed midfielder Laurent Abergel on a free transfer from Lorient. They also have a new coach, Olivier Pantaloni, who signed a two-year deal to replace Claude Puel.
INEOS has been trying to sell Nice, and American investors nearly bought the club after visiting the training ground. But the deal, which had a June 15 deadline, fell through at the last moment. That leaves the club uncertain as the new season approaches. Ratcliffe wanted over €200 million to sell after 7 years with Nice but lowered the price when buyers weren’t interested.
Ratcliffe increased his stake in Manchester United to 28.94% with a £79.3m investment in December 2024. After a tough period, United are back in the Champions League, finishing third last season under Michael Carrick, who is now their permanent manager following a successful interim spell.
