Mexico hadn’t let in any goals during this summer’s World Cup until they faced England, when Jude Bellingham scored twice in just 98 seconds at the Estadio Azteca – and fans couldn’t agree more on how amazing he was.
After a quiet start, Bellingham scored first with a perfectly timed header, thanks to some great play from Bukayo Saka on the wing. Then, less than two minutes later, the Real Madrid midfielder scored again from close range, making it 2-0 for England in the round of 16 match.
It was a first half to remember for Bellingham, who became the first player to score two goals at the Azteca in a World Cup game since Diego Maradona did it in 1986 against Belgium. As he celebrated with his classic style, fans praised him as a true “big game player” who always shows up when England needs him most.

It’s surprising to think that before the World Cup, Bellingham wasn’t even a guaranteed starter for England. Morgan Rogers was often picked ahead of him in the qualifiers.
Back in June, coach Thomas Tuchel said, “He is one of the starters, he knows it, but we have 14 or 15 players who could start. These roles can change, but right now Jude is definitely one of the main players. He’s looking good in training, and after his break and injury, he’s hungry to get back on the pitch. He’s so happy to be playing again.”
So, where would England be without Bellingham? It’s hard to imagine!
