Mo Salah’s agent shares the real story behind the Besiktas transfer after ‘done deal’ rumors

Mohamed Salah’s agent recently spoke out after news broke that the Egyptian star was set to join Besiktas on a free transfer. Salah officially left Liverpool at the end of June, ending an amazing nine-year run at Anfield. During his time there, he scored an incredible 257 goals in 442 games, helping the team win three Premier League titles, a Champions League, and several other trophies.

However, the end of his Premier League journey was a bit rocky, especially with his coach Arne Slot. Salah openly criticized the Dutchman’s tactics after feeling let down. Since confirming his exit in March, Salah has been linked to many clubs, including a big-money move to Saudi Arabia, but Besiktas has surfaced as the top option.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri shared that the 34-year-old gave the “green light” to join the Turkish club on Friday and reportedly signed a one-year deal with an option for another year. Tavolieri even called the transfer a “done deal,” saying Besiktas planned to fly him in for his medical and signing early next week.

Still, even though the move seems close, Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas cast some doubt with a surprising statement. “I personally don’t know where Mohamed will play next season. What does that tell you?” he asked on X.

Since an agent usually knows exactly what’s happening, Abbas’s words came as a surprise and made many people question the news about Besiktas. It’s rare for agents to publicly deny transfers like this, so the update shocked fans and media alike.

If Salah does end up joining Besiktas, he will be in good company. Leandro Trossard recently moved there from Arsenal after three and a half years with the Gunners. The Belgian signed a three-year contract, with the option for an extra year, in a £15 million deal.

Trossard, like Salah, became well-known during his time in the Premier League and is considered a big signing for the Turkish team. The 31-year-old was crucial last season, helping Arsenal win the title with 93 goal contributions in 239 league games.

After leaving Arsenal, Trossard shared an emotional message: “I feel so sad about leaving because this club has been everything to me. This is probably the hardest decision I’ve made in my career. It wasn’t easy to say yes, but I also feel it’s the right time to begin a new chapter.”

He also explained why he chose Besiktas: “One of the reasons I picked Besiktas over some clubs in England is because I didn’t want to play against Arsenal. This club means too much to me, and I didn’t want to be on the opposite side.”
