Chelsea ready to listen to offers for five players in a big £136m summer makeover
Chelsea is gearing up for an exciting summer in the transfer window as Xabi Alonso works to build a team that can bring trophies back to Stamford Bridge. The club plans to sign several new players, but they’ll also part ways with some others.
Right now, it looks like Chelsea is open to offers for five players this summer. If they sell these players, they could raise about £136 million to help fund new signings.
Fans probably won’t be too surprised that these players haven’t really lived up to expectations since joining the club, so many might not be upset to see them go. The main challenge for Chelsea and their supporters will be getting close to the fees they originally paid for these players.
One name coming up is Alejandro Garnacho, who joined Chelsea for £40 million. According to reports from A Bola, Chelsea might find it tough to get that kind of money back from other clubs interested in him.
It’s a similar situation for the other four players. Filip Jorgensen was signed for £20.8 million from Villarreal, Axel Disasi, a French center-back from Monaco, cost £38 million, and his Monaco teammate Benoît Badiashile was purchased for £32.3 million. The last player set to leave is Liam Delap, who impressed at Ipswich Town and was brought in after Chelsea paid his £30 million release clause.
If Chelsea manages to get back all the money they spent on these five players, it would total around £160 million. But the club expects they might have to take a hit on some of these transfers.
The report also mentions that Alonso has some players he definitely wants to keep, including seven key names. Among them are England internationals Reece James, Cole Palmer, and Levi Colwill. The other four are South Americans Moises Caicedo, Joao Pedro, Estêvão, and young English talent Joshua Acheampong, who the club rates highly.
