Bronny James Gets a Tough Comeback From Pistons Player During Another Rough Day for the Lakers

Bronny James found himself in a strange moment during the Los Angeles Lakers’ NBA game against the Detroit Pistons. The Lakers lost 128-106, and in the last 30 seconds, the Pistons decided not to take any shots, just letting the clock run down.

Pistons point guard Daniss Jenkins held onto the ball for a while, almost like he was counting down the time left on the shot clock. But then he suddenly threw the ball straight at Bronny, who had just come off the bench to replace Luka Doncic when the score was 96-122. Bronny didn’t see the ball coming, and it bounced past him out of bounds.

Even if Jenkins hadn’t done that, he would have lost the ball anyway. The Lakers’ bench looked on, a bit confused, as Bronny picked up the ball and got back into the game.

Bronny has been going back and forth between the NBA and the G League, playing for the South Bay Lakers. So far, he hasn’t made a big impact in the G League and has mostly had short appearances in NBA games during 2025.

He has a guaranteed contract for next year, but it’s not clear if the Lakers will keep him, especially since there’s uncertainty about his dad LeBron’s future.

LeBron chose to play for the Lakers again in the 2025/26 season, with a $52.5 million player option. But it seems likely this could be his last season with the team. In September, he talked about retirement, saying, “No matter how this year goes, I’m super focused because I don’t know when it’ll end. I know it’s sooner rather than later. It’s pretty amazing I can still play at a high level. Age is just a number to me, but it’s reality too.”
