Eddie Hearn makes surprising claim about the Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury fight deal

Before the big November fight between the famous British boxers, Eddie Hearn made a surprising claim about some contract terms that Anthony Joshua has turned down. The Joshua vs. Fury showdown, expected to be the fight of the year, seems officially confirmed after Netflix shared a surprise promo video during WWE Raw.

This came after Fury’s fiery rant, which made people wonder if the fight was still on. But now it seems like smart marketing, especially with an official announcement planned for Fury’s social media. The fight has had months, even years, of contract disagreements. Things heated up when UFC’s Dana White got involved, leading to threats of a lawsuit from Eddie Hearn.

Now, it looks like the contracts are finally signed and the fight is set for November. However, Eddie Hearn says the contracts have many extra conditions that Joshua didn’t agree to, even though it meant he’d get paid less.

Earlier this week, Dana White got frustrated, saying the contract talks were getting tiring. He asked, “Do you want to fight or not? There’s lots of money at stake.” He didn’t seem bothered whether the fight was in the UK or not.

Hearn later responded, explaining that Joshua agreed to take a smaller payday because he didn’t want to do a bunch of extra stuff the other side wanted. At a Matchroom Boxing event, Hearn said the promoters want to pay Joshua less, especially because of the location, and want him to do extra promotional work.

There have already been some contract issues, but Hearn said they’ve been ignored because the people involved were seen as friends and partners—though that might be changing.

What those extra contract terms are isn’t clear, but probably involve extra promotions and pre-fight hype. Instead, Joshua’s team seems focused on just fighting in the ring.
