Frank Warren says the Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury fight might still get canceled.
Frank Warren, the head of Queensberry, has shared a serious warning while confirming why the big all-British fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury might not happen after all.
This week, the two former world champions finally signed a deal to face each other in late 2026. The excitement has been building, especially after Fury’s clear win over Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Fury said he wanted Joshua next, but Joshua fired back, calling Fury a “clout-chaser” and calling himself “the landlord,” saying, “I’m the boss, you work for me.”
With both promoters, Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren, confirming the deal, fans are gearing up for what could be the biggest British heavyweight fight since Frank Bruno fought Lennox Lewis in 1993.
However, there’s a catch. Before fighting Fury, Joshua will face a lesser-known Albanian fighter, Kristian Prenga, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Warren warned that if Joshua loses this fight, it might completely ruin the chances of the Joshua vs. Fury match happening. Warren also mentioned that Fury might want to fight again before their big clash, possibly as soon as late October. Fury likes to stay active and focused, and having a fight date helps him with that.
So, what if Fury beats Joshua in the future? Even though Fury is 37 and might think about retiring soon, Warren says Fury could want to settle old scores with Oleksandr Usyk by having a third fight. Usyk is the only fighter to have beaten Fury during his long pro career, and he’s also handed Joshua two of his four losses. The other two losses Joshua suffered were against Daniel Dubois and Andy Ruiz Jr.
