Jannik Sinner team up with Novak Djokovic in a special club after winning the Italian Open

Jannik Sinner is quickly becoming the next big tennis star, with only Carlos Alcaraz really able to challenge him right now. The Italian is the favorite to win the upcoming Grand Slam at Roland Garros since Alcaraz can’t play due to injury, and Novak Djokovic is dealing with some fitness issues as the French Open approaches.
Djokovic has been a giant in tennis, winning 24 Grand Slam titles, but he hasn’t won one since 2023 because of the rise of Sinner and Alcaraz. Djokovic set many amazing records during his career, but one of them is now matched by 24-year-old Sinner after his win at the Italian Open.
Sinner became the first Italian man in 50 years to win the Italian Open, beating Casper Ruud on Sunday. The last Italian to do this was Adriano Panatta back in 1976. This win was part of an impressive streak for Sinner, who now has 29 wins in a row and 34 straight in ATP Masters 1000 tournaments.
By winning all nine ATP Masters 1000 titles, Sinner joined an exclusive group with Djokovic. While Djokovic reached this milestone at 31, Sinner did it at only 24. With this achievement under his belt, Sinner will likely aim to follow Djokovic, who has won all these titles twice and is close to a third set with another win at Monte Carlo.
Sinner has won the last six ATP Masters 1000 events, five of those just this year. After his win, he spoke warmly to Ruud, saying, “Congrats to you and your team, Casper. It’s great to see you back playing at the highest level. The most important tournament is coming for you now, and I wish you all the best, both on and off the court with your fiancée. Wishing you great success in the future.”
