Here’s some great news for Newcastle as they work to keep their top players and strengthen a squad that’s had a tough time lately. They’re set to get extra money from the Alexander Isak deal.

Liverpool’s big signing hasn’t been what many hoped for, with injuries limiting him to just three Premier League goals in a few starts for Arne Slot’s team. These injuries have already cost Liverpool a lot, on top of the £125 million they paid for him in August.

While Liverpool is ready to bring in more players to support Isak, Newcastle is still tight on funds after some tricky moves this summer. Even though Newcastle hasn’t yet replaced Isak’s goal output with new players like Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa, the money from the Isak transfer keeps coming, giving them a chance to find a new goal scorer.

Thanks to the FIFA Club Benefits Programme, clubs get thousands of pounds for every day their players take part in the 2026 World Cup. For Newcastle, this includes players like Bruno Guimarães (Brazil), Wissa (Congo), and Anthony Elanga (Sweden). This will likely grow with England call-ups for Anthony Gordon, Dan Burn, Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall, and possibly Harvey Barnes, while Woltemade and Malik Thiaw are set to be in Germany’s squad.

The programme also shares funds with clubs who owned the players in the last two years, so Newcastle and Liverpool will split the money from Isak representing Sweden.

Despite only playing three times since breaking his leg in January against Tottenham, Isak is back in Sweden’s squad, where he’ll team up with Viktor Gyökeres.

The scheme pays clubs £8,200 for every day their players are at the World Cup, meaning at least £186,000 per player—and even more if the team goes far in the tournament. Liverpool won’t lose out much since they also have Luis Diaz (Colombia) and Darwin Nunez (Uruguay) benefiting from this.

For Newcastle, the extra cash might not be huge, but every bit helps as other clubs start showing interest in their key players like Sandro Tonali.
