Spurs fans speak out against ‘unfair’ decision for Everton game

Tottenham fans are upset with the club’s final matchday programme of the season, calling it “unacceptable” and “spineless.” It hasn’t been a great year for the North London club, who went into Sunday’s crucial game against Everton sitting just two points above the relegation zone in 17th place.

Many supporters are feeling disappointed as the team’s struggles continue, and things didn’t get better before the match. Journalist Alasdair Gold noticed something odd: there was no message from the club’s top bosses, just a column from manager Roberto De Zerbi. Usually, there’s a note from Daniel Levy, the former chairman, but this time there wasn’t.

Fans were frustrated with the silence from Vinai Venkatesham, Johan Lange, and Peter Charrington, especially before such an important game. People shared their thoughts online—one said, “Just unacceptable. Where’s the accountability?” Another called the leadership a “bunch of spineless cowards,” saying they clearly don’t care. Others felt this showed a sad side of the club’s leaders, choosing to hide rather than face the fans.

One supporter added how surprising it was that no executives, not even from the Lewis family, Vinai, or Lange, offered any thanks or words of encouragement. Another pointed out that even though Daniel Levy had his faults, he always gave some kind of rallying message. Now, fans feel this new leadership is just waiting to react after the season ends, hoping the team stays up.

In September, Daniel Levy stepped down as Tottenham’s executive chairman after nearly 25 years. Peter Charrington was named the new non-executive chairman, Vinai Venkatesham became chief executive in April after leaving Arsenal, and Johan Lange took over as technical director in 2023, now running recruitment.
