A player from Nuno Espirito Santo’s West Ham United team has already told his manager that he won’t play for him again after a heated argument.

West Ham’s long 14-year run in the Premier League ended on Sunday afternoon when Tottenham Hotspur beat Everton 1-0 on the last day of the season. West Ham needed to beat Leeds United and hope Spurs slipped up against Everton. Even though West Ham won 3-0, Joao Palhinha’s goal for Leeds was enough to keep them in 17th place with 42 points.

This means West Ham will play in the second division for the first time since 2012. It’s a big blow for the club, who hoped to grow stronger after moving from Upton Park to the London Stadium.

West Ham said goodbye to David Moyes in 2024 and brought in Julen Lopetegui. His arrival brought changes, with some well-known players coming from Europe, including Jean-Clair Todibo. Todibo first joined on loan from Nice but was later signed for €40 million.

According to The Athletic, Todibo and Nuno had a clash after West Ham’s 3-1 loss to Newcastle United. Nuno took Todibo off the field in the 25th minute, replacing him with Taty Castellanos, which upset Todibo a lot.

Todibo talked to the goalkeeper coach, Rui Barbosa, and then told Nuno he wouldn’t play for West Ham again while Nuno was manager. Because of this, Todibo wasn’t included in the squad for the game against Leeds. Nuno changed the lineup to a back four, playing Axel Disasi and Konstantinos Mavropanos as center-backs.

West Ham is expected to sell some players like Mavropanos, Crysencio Summerville, and Mateus Fernandes to bring in money. When asked about his future after the relegation was confirmed, captain Jarrod Bowen said it wasn’t the right time to talk about it.

He told Sky Sports, “Getting this club relegated really hurts. We shouldn’t be in this spot, but here we are, and we didn’t do enough to stay up. I feel hurt… We had many chances for different results. It’s still very fresh and raw. Talking about my future now would disrespect everyone. I want this club back in the Premier League. This club means so much to me and has given me so much. My goal is to help get us back there.”
