Before the huge fight between boxing stars Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, boxing legend Mike Tyson might have to watch from home. Fans have been excited for this match for years, but even now, the two fighters are still sorting out the contracts.
One reason for the delay is Dana White joining Tyson Fury’s team, which has made things more complicated. Eddie Hearn, who works with Anthony Joshua, gave an update saying they only have a few small details left to agree on. Some of these involve extra demands from Joshua, which he may reject and accept a pay cut instead.
The biggest question now is where the fight will take place. Netflix, Saudi investors, Matchroom, and the fighters all have different ideas. Riyadh in Saudi Arabia seems less likely because of conflicts in the Middle East, so New York or London are the main options.
Mike Tyson thinks the fight should happen where the biggest crowd will be, even though he can’t go to London because he’s banned from the UK due to his past conviction. He told the Daily Mail, “Even though I can’t go – I’m barred from London – I think London should get the fight.”
Tyson was refused entry to the UK in 2013 due to UK rules that block anyone who served more than four years in prison. This means he won’t be ringside if the fight happens in London.
But if the fight is in the U.S., Tyson said, “All the English people will come anyway, so let’s do it there.” He added that the crowd will feel just like it does in England.
Tyson also shared his thoughts on who might win, disagreeing with Usyk, who predicted a knockout.
If the fight happens in New York, Tyson will probably be there, maybe even promoting his own fight against Floyd Mayweather.
