If Paris Saint-Germain wins the Champions League again on Saturday night, the players will get an amazing reward.

PSG, the current champions, are facing Arsenal at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, aiming to win Europe’s top prize for the second year in a row.

Since big investments from Qatar started, PSG had many tries to win Europe’s biggest trophy but kept falling short in the knockout rounds. They also lost the 2020 final to Bayern Munich. But last season, they finally made it after beating three English teams—Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal. In the final in Munich, Luis Enrique’s team crushed Inter Milan 5-0. Now, they want to do it again in Hungary.

If they stop Arsenal from winning and make history, PSG’s leaders have promised the players a huge payout. According to L’Equipe, each player could earn about €1 million as a bonus. This bonus plan was also in place last year when PSG first won the Champions League. It was agreed on by the team’s top four leaders—Marquinhos, Achraf Hakimi, Ousmane Dembele, and Vitinha—at the start of the season.

A source told L’Equipe, “Real bonuses only come with titles; that’s the culture of a great team.” There’s also a bonus for winning Ligue 1, which PSG does almost every year. They already clinched their 14th league title this month.

In the past, some players had big bonus deals for winning the Champions League, but now, under the sporting director Luis Campos, the bonus is shared by everyone who played a part. Stars like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue, and Joao Neves will get the same bonus as Quentin Ndjantou, who appeared just three times in the group stages and has been out since. Last year, young player Senny Mayulu scored in the final after coming off the bench and also earned the big bonus.

The last team to win the Champions League two years in a row was Real Madrid, who did it from 2016 to 2018 three times in a row.

Luis Enrique is chasing his third Champions League title as a coach and is very motivated to win again in Budapest.

He said, “I don’t think there’s any better motivation than winning the Champions League. We’ll see tomorrow who’s better – both teams won their domestic leagues, and I’m focused on what’s good for my team so we can show our best.

“It’s a big motivation for us. We’re already history as one of Europe’s best teams, but that’s what we want. You never know when you’ll be back in a Champions League final, so you have to make the most of it.”
