Liverpool is getting ready to swoop in on another Premier League transfer, shaking things up for two rival teams.
Liverpool are reportedly trying to step in and take over a Premier League club’s bid for a Spurs player.
Even though Andoni Iraola only became Liverpool’s head coach earlier this month, he’s surely eager to make his mark on the team.
Liverpool are still linked with RB Leipzig’s Ivory Coast left winger Yan Diomande. They’ve already had a €100 million (£87 million) offer turned down. Leipzig want Diomande to stay for at least another season before letting him go in 2027.
Still, journalist Lewis Steele hinted on his YouTube channel that the deal might be completed in the “next day or two.” Diomande is currently playing for Ivory Coast at the World Cup.
On another note, Spanish winger Victor Munoz will definitely be at Liverpool next season. He joined from Osasuna on June 17 after Liverpool triggered his €40 million (£34.6 million) release clause. The 22-year-old had been close to signing for Newcastle United before Liverpool swooped in and sealed the deal.
While Liverpool are also linked with PSG’s French winger Bradley Barcola, they seem interested in hijacking Brighton’s chase for Spurs defender Luka Vuskovic.
Vuskovic, 19, is with Croatia at the World Cup and played in their 4-2 loss to England. He spent last season on loan at Hamburger SV, scoring six goals in 30 games.
With Spurs having already signed Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, Vuskovic is looking for a new club because he might not get much playing time in London.
Brighton reportedly agreed personal terms and made offers of £30 million and £45 million, but Spurs want closer to £60 million. Now, Liverpool and Manchester United are watching the situation and could swoop in to sign him instead.
Vuskovic is highly rated at Anfield, especially since Liverpool need to replace starting centre-back Ibrahima Konate, who left for Real Madrid on a free transfer. Jeremy Jacquet has already joined from Stade Rennais, and Giovanni Leoni is still recovering from an ACL injury.
Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Barcelona have also shown interest in Vuskovic.
Before Croatia’s 1-0 win over Panama, the young defender was asked if all the transfer talk was affecting his World Cup performance. He said, “I don’t think much about it. I have really good teammates in both the national team and at my club, and it’s a pleasure to play with them. I’m focused on the World Cup right now, but my goal is to play regularly next season at a club where they want me. We’ll see what happens in the next days or weeks.”
