Manchester United have picked a World Cup star as their new top transfer target.

Manchester United have found a new top transfer target as they continue to rebuild their team this summer. Michael Carrick wants to strengthen the squad and prefers players with solid Premier League experience.

United have already agreed to sign Ederson from Atalanta and are determined to bring in at least one more central midfielder before the transfer window closes. They tried to sign West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes but seem to have missed out after Tottenham agreed an £85 million deal for him.

Because of this, United are expected to focus more on Bournemouth’s Alex Scott. They’re also interested in Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni, who remain on their list. Even though they missed out on Fernandes, United might still look to West Ham for other players.

While midfield is the main priority, United also want to boost their attack if possible. Carrick is keen to add another left-sided winger, and West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville has become their top choice.

Sky Sports says United have a four-player shortlist that includes Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo, and Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye. But Summerville is the favorite. Since West Ham went down to the Championship, they value the Dutch winger at about £50 million. After making good money from Fernandes, the Hammers might be more open to selling Summerville.

Summerville scored seven goals and made five assists during West Ham’s tough season. He has also caught the eye of United’s scouts with his performances for the Netherlands at the World Cup. After his senior international debut in March, he scored two goals and made two assists before the Netherlands were knocked out by Morocco on penalties earlier this week.

Any move for Summerville could depend on what happens with Marcus Rashford at Old Trafford. Rashford is currently at the World Cup with England and will take a longer break once the tournament is over. His future is unclear because Barcelona decided not to make his loan move permanent for £26 million.

Barcelona might try to get him on loan again, but United only want to sell him permanently. While a sale is the preferred plan, there’s still a chance Rashford could come back and try to restart his United career under Carrick, after falling out of favor during Ruben Amorim’s time.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared that Rashford’s team and United have been in direct talks about his future. Romano said Barcelona haven’t ruled out another loan, but United don’t want to consider that. Instead, they talked about the option of Rashford rejoining Carrick’s squad if no permanent deal happens.

Romano also mentioned that United told Rashford they’d be happy to have him back for pre-season, and the England player hasn’t closed the door on staying at Old Trafford.
