England faces a possible sabotage plan before their World Cup round of 16 match as a warning has been issued.

England has made a special hotel request to help keep their World Cup preparations trouble-free ahead of their round of 16 match against Mexico.

After Harry Kane led them to a late win over DR Congo, the Three Lions will face Mexico on Sunday at the Azteca Stadium, which is high up at 7,200 feet above sea level. Thomas Tuchel already mentioned that playing in the thin air will be a big challenge for the players.

Another worry for England is the noise and disturbances from Mexico fans outside their hotel. Earlier, the Ecuadorian Football Federation complained to FIFA because Mexico supporters kept them awake all night with fireworks, car engines revving, drum banging, and chanting before their match.

Reports say that Mexico fans might try the same for England’s stay. FIFA rules say teams must arrive at least 24 hours before a game, but England plan to arrive two days early to prepare better.

Still, the risk of noise and disruptions remains. The Sun reports that some local journalists may try to leak England’s hotel location. Though the hotel details are secret, this could change if reporters find out.

Local police will be on guard, and The Athletic says security will likely include roadblocks around the hotel to keep fans away. These roadblocks are approved case-by-case.

England players will get eye masks and earplugs to help them rest. Tuchel said, “We expect the noise outside the hotel. But what can we do? We’ll bring earplugs. I expect everything.”

England will spend more time in Mexico City than anywhere else during the tournament. The Daily Mail’s Mike Keegan reports that England took extra steps to avoid spying by flying back to their secure Kansas City base after beating DR Congo, instead of heading straight to Mexico.

Their Kansas City base is well-protected, with security guards around training sessions to keep any sensitive info safe.
