Lando Norris voices his worries about Lewis Hamilton on team radio ahead of possible penalty at British GP

Lando Norris had a few words about Lewis Hamilton over the team radio before the Ferrari driver was looked into by the race officials at the British Grand Prix.

The race at Silverstone ended in a bit of a mess when Max Verstappen spun out on lap 48, which brought out the safety car. Ferrari decided to pit both race leader Charles Leclerc and Hamilton, hoping for a late-race restart that would give them a chance to race hard.

However, Hamilton lost his spot on the track to George Russell because of that pit stop. The FIA planned to bring the safety car in on lap 52 for a one-lap shootout, but they quickly put it back out in the last part of the track. This allowed Leclerc, who was about 25 seconds ahead when the safety car came out, to finish without any pressure. Russell finished second, and Hamilton came in third.

Hamilton could still get a penalty that would change his finishing position. Earlier, he got a five-second penalty for jumping the start, and now he’s under investigation for possibly ignoring yellow flags after Verstappen’s crash. Russell had faced a similar investigation last time but was cleared because he slowed down enough near the yellow flag.

This time, Hamilton’s investigation seems different. During the race, Norris told his engineer, “Lewis is overtaking everyone. Overtaking everyone.” Norris was right behind Hamilton then but didn’t know exactly who Hamilton passed or if he broke any rules.

The race officials will now look into it and decide if Hamilton should be penalized. Both Hamilton and a Ferrari team member are called to the stewards’ office for a meeting at 5pm, with the decision expected soon after. If Hamilton gets a penalty, he might lose points, and Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli also missed out due to a mechanical problem with his wheel shield.
