According to FIFA rules, if lightning is spotted within eight miles of the stadium, the game has to stop immediately. Players can’t go back on the field until 30 minutes after the last lightning strike, plus another 15 minutes to warm up again.
Chad Merrill, a senior meteorologist at AccuWeather, told Sun Sport that thunderstorms are quite likely around the stadium before the England vs Norway match. He explained that in Florida, afternoon showers and storms are common because of the sea breeze coming in from the Atlantic, often bringing heavy rain and gusty winds.
England will probably see this as just another challenge in their World Cup journey.
