Adebayo Akinfenwa says he might start a petition if EA Sports doesn’t fix how he looks in FC 27.
Former Wycombe Wanderers striker Adebayo Akinfenwa isn’t too happy with how he looks in the new EA Sports FC 27 game. After a picture of his character went viral on social media, he called it “a straight injustice.”
Earlier this year, EA Sports revealed the Hall of FUT, a new feature in FC 27 that celebrates fan-favorite and cult hero players from the last 18 years of Ultimate Team. Alongside players like Marouane Fellaini, Giovani dos Santos, Loic Remy, and Eljero Elia, Akinfenwa was the very first player added to the Hall of FUT.
EA’s website describes Akinfenwa as “one of the strongest footballers in recent memory,” with a playing style known for being tough and physical. In past games, his physical strength was maxed out at 99. But Akinfenwa isn’t impressed with how his player looks in the upcoming game, saying his virtual character looks smaller than he should.
On TikTok, the 44-year-old shared his disappointment, calling his new appearance “a straight injustice.” He even joked about starting a petition to get his body shape fixed. He said, “Hey, this is a quick message to the powers that be at EA. This is how I looked when I played, this is how I look in my kit, and this is how I look in FC 27. It’s a straight injustice. They call me a beast for a reason. I might have to start a petition to fix this. I’m coming to HQ—you don’t want that!”
Fans on social media had lots to say too. One wrote, “NickRTFM is right about how every player feels the same in FIFA! Look at Akinfenwa in FC 27 vs when he was active. Why does he look so small?” Another said, “He looked fine in previous FIFA games,” while someone else added, “They really did him dirty.” Others shared that Akinfenwa posted a TikTok asking EA to make his body bigger because he’s bigger in real life, and that he seems unhappy with his FC 27 look.
Separately, Kylian Mbappe was announced as the cover star for both the standard and ultimate editions of EA Sports FC 27. But fans also noticed a new detail on the game’s cover: a PEGI 16 rating in the corner.
For those who don’t know, PEGI ratings show the suitable age for games sold in the UK and across Europe. Before, EA’s football games all had a PEGI 3 rating, which meant they were OK for very young players. But new rules have been introduced, making games that include things like microtransactions or loot boxes automatically rated PEGI 16 or higher. This explains why FC 27 now has the higher age rating.
