Andoni Iraola points out three possible Yan Diomande options for Liverpool, with a surprising Premier League name coming up.
Liverpool have reportedly picked out three players they’d go after this summer if they can’t sign RB Leipzig’s left winger, Yan Diomande.
Less than a month into Andoni Iraola’s time as Liverpool’s new manager, the team’s summer plans are starting to come together.
On Wednesday (June 17), it was widely reported that Liverpool jumped ahead of Newcastle United to sign Osasuna winger Victor Munoz by meeting his €40 million (£34.6 million) release clause.
Munoz, 22, played for Barcelona and Real Madrid at youth level before making two senior appearances for Real Madrid. He’s currently with Spain’s World Cup squad, and Liverpool even sent medical staff to the US to check him out.
Even though Liverpool have added a winger who can play on both sides, they’re still going after RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast star Diomande. Paris Saint-Germain, fresh from winning the Champions League, are also interested, which could push up his price.
Leipzig value Diomande at over £100 million.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, said Diomande is still Liverpool’s top choice. He also mentioned another player, Bradley Barcola, who Liverpool really like.
Diomande’s contract with Leipzig runs until 2030, and Barcola is tied to PSG until 2028.
However, if Liverpool decide to drop their chase for Diomande, they have three other players in mind.
According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are also watching Köln’s Said El Mala, Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, and Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo—players known for their speed.
Minteh is the only one with Premier League experience, scoring 10 goals and nine assists in 73 games for Brighton since moving from Newcastle. He’s contracted till 2029.
Fernandez-Pardo, 21, has been impressive in France’s Ligue 1 after joining Lille from Belgium’s Gent in 2024. He’s under contract until 2029 and can play across the front line, with 12 goals and 11 assists in 71 games. Aston Villa are also interested in signing him.
El Mala, 19, is the youngest on the list. The Köln star scored 13 goals and made five assists in 36 Bundesliga games last season and has a contract until 2030.
