Another player is leaving LIV Golf just days after Jon Rahm, as more players continue to exit.

Jon Rahm’s departure from LIV Golf was officially confirmed this week, and he’s not the only player leaving the league.

Back in April, LIV Golf faced a big setback when the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) said it would stop funding the league after the 2027 season. Then, in September, LIV Golf filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US. Since then, they’ve secured a possible $300 million in financing from BC Partners Credit to help keep things going.

Many top players, including Rahm, are leaving LIV as its future looks unsure. Rahm started playing in LIV Golf in February 2024 but is now leaving because he found the new contract terms “unacceptable.” The 31-year-old is in talks for a separation agreement with LIV, which is expected to be finalized by a court hearing on November 5, according to BBC Sport.

When Rahm left the PGA Tour in December 2023, he was one of the biggest names to join LIV, reportedly signing a £222 million ($300 million) deal. Another big name, 2017 Masters champion Sergio Garcia, also got a special deal during a hearing in New Jersey that allows him to end his contract and negotiate with other groups. Garcia told reporters at the Open de España in Madrid that he’s hopeful to be part of next year’s Ryder Cup, either as a player or vice-captain.

At 46 years old, Garcia is open to many options, including a return to the PGA Tour. However, he would face a suspension until August under PGA Tour rules. He said, “It’s definitely a possibility. I turn 47 in January, and the Champions Tour is an option. I’d like to play some of those events, especially the big ones.”

Rory McIlroy, a long-time critic of LIV Golf, wasn’t very welcoming about the idea of LIV players returning to the PGA Tour. He said, “I don’t think LIV has added value. The PGA Tour is in a good place.” McIlroy added that while players will be welcomed back eventually, it won’t be right away, and the road could be tough.

Along with Rahm and Garcia, Bryson DeChambeau is also considering a possible return to the PGA Tour in 2027.
