A clip of Antonio Conte talking about his tough approach to players with bad attitudes is quickly gaining attention, especially as he’s being linked to the Manchester United manager job.
It’s been a rough start to the season for United, who haven’t won in seven games in a row — a streak they last had back in late 2015. Because of this, head coach Michael Carrick is feeling a lot of pressure, especially after United’s embarrassing 4-1 loss to Como on Wednesday night.

After that Champions League loss, several big names, including former Chelsea and Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, have been linked to the United job. Conte is said to have had some informal talks with United officials after the Como game, where he shared two conditions for taking the role. However, he denied these reports in a statement on Friday.
Conte is quite different from Carrick, who usually stays calm and collected on the sidelines. Conte, on the other hand, is known for being very passionate and often shouting instructions to his players. He once told GQ, “I am always trying to keep the tension high for the players.”
Conte is also very strict when it comes to managing players. In a 2016 interview with Thierry Henry, he spoke about handling players with a bad attitude.
When Henry asked about the importance of his strict style, Conte said: “From my experience as a player, this is the best way to manage a team. At the start of each season, I talk to my players about respect and discipline. I expect this from them, and I give it too. If someone doesn’t behave well in training or other situations, I’d rather get rid of that player than have 22 players with a bad attitude.”
Conte added, “If a manager ignores problems, he loses control of the team.”
If Conte does take the Manchester United job, he would be walking into a dressing room that’s a bit unsettled. Lisandro Martinez recently criticized the club’s management, and Bruno Fernandes openly questioned Carrick’s tactics after the Como loss.
