Arsenal get big update on Julian Alvarez transfer as Bruno Guimaraes officially joins the club

This summer, Arsenal’s transfer window has been buzzing, with Newcastle captain Guimaraes joining just before what could be the club’s first-ever title defense. There were talks about signing Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior in a surprise move, but the Spanish club managed to hold on to him.
Now, Arsenal has an update on Atletico Madrid’s Alvarez, who they’ve been linked to since their Champions League clash last season. Arsenal reached the final, drawing 1-1 after extra time but losing to PSG on penalties. They beat Alvarez’s team 2-1 on aggregate in the semis, with Alvarez scoring Atletico’s only goal.
Diego Simeone recently shared some important news about Alvarez’s future as Arsenal looks to strengthen their attack for the next season. “The club has made a decision. We’re very happy to have Julian, and we’ll keep helping him grow,” said Simeone before a friendly against Manchester City.
Atletico’s CEO, Miguel Angel Gil Marin, also commented on Barcelona’s interest in Alvarez, clearly unhappy with their approach. “Barca are disrespectful and think they can do whatever they want. They see us as weak, but they’re just showing their true colors.”
For now, it looks like Alvarez will stay at Atletico. Last season, he made history there as the first player to score double figures in the Champions League, helping his team reach the semis. Although his World Cup was a bit rough, he still scored an important extra-time winner against Switzerland to help Argentina move on to face England.
Bruno Guimaraes’ addition and leadership could be key as Arsenal aims to keep their title. But their interest in Alvarez and Vinicius might also show they’re a bit worried about their attacking options, even with Viktor Gyokeres, who was their top scorer last season, already on the team.
