Arthur Fery becomes an overnight millionaire after his Wimbledon win earns him his biggest payday yet!
Arthur Fery’s amazing Wimbledon journey ended on Friday, and the huge prize money he earned has just been revealed. After doing so well to reach the semi-finals on Centre Court, Fery was beaten by world No.2 Alexander Zverev in straight sets.
Starting the tournament ranked 114th, Fery made it to the last four by winning five matches, including a strong quarter-final win over Flavio Cobolli (6-4, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0). Though losing was tough, Fery became only the fifth British man to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals since 1968, something he should be really proud of.
Before Wimbledon, Fery had only won two Grand Slam matches and earned less than £650,000 from tournaments. But reaching the semi-finals has brought him a whopping £900,000, pushing his total career earnings past £1 million! If he had beaten Zverev, he would have doubled that to £1.8 million, but even though he didn’t win, his great performance showed his talent on a big stage.
At just 23 years old, Fery has already jumped 78 places in the rankings, now sitting inside the top 40. Meanwhile, Zverev will face either Novak Djokovic or Jannik Sinner in Sunday’s final, hoping to add another big trophy after his win at Roland Garros.
Zverev said after the match, “It’s amazing. Wimbledon has always been a tough one for me, so being in the final is incredible. I’m proud of my team and everyone involved. Now we just have one more match to focus on for Sunday.”
Fery has said he’s not focused on money but has put his earlier winnings back into his tennis career. His mom, Olivia, played doubles at the 1991 French Open, and his dad, Loic, used to own a French football club and is worth around £275 million after a successful career in asset management. Loic nearly bought Leeds United! Arthur went to a private school and studied at Stanford University in California. Though he comes from a wealthy family, he’s now making a name for himself and earning life-changing money during this exciting Wimbledon fortnight. On top of his prize money, his continued success will likely bring more sponsorships and opportunities down the road.
