There’s some exciting news about Bradley Barcola’s future! Reports from France say Liverpool have had early talks about signing the Paris Saint-Germain forward. Barcola, who played for France in the World Cup this summer, has been linked with leaving PSG.
Bayern Munich have him on their list, and Arsenal was interested before they brought in Christos Tzolis instead. But it looks like Liverpool are the most serious. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool held ‘preliminary talks’ about Barcola early Tuesday morning. While PSG and Liverpool haven’t started official talks yet, that’s expected to happen soon since Barcola is a top target for the Reds.
The only tricky part is the price. French outlet RMC Sport says PSG wants €170 million (£145m), which Liverpool think is way too high. They are hoping to negotiate a better deal. Liverpool also tried to sign Barcola last summer when he was valued at about €85 million, but they don’t want to pay double that now.
Barcola has told PSG he wants to leave after turning down a big new contract offer a few months ago. He scored 13 goals for PSG last season and still has two years left on his deal. Jacobs says Liverpool know this, and if PSG doesn’t sell him now, they might lose him for much less in 2027 since he doesn’t want to renew his contract.
If Barcola joins Liverpool, it might mean someone else leaves. There were rumors about Federico Chiesa going, but he might stay as he looks forward to working with Liverpool’s new manager Andoni Iraola. Cody Gakpo could be the one to leave—despite signing a new deal until 2030 last year, Spurs and other clubs are interested in him. Gakpo had seven goals and five assists last season and could be worth around £60-70 million.
