Reports say Chelsea might sell Joao Pedro, and he may also miss out on playing for Brazil in the 2026 World Cup.

Pedro had a great first season in London after moving from Brighton for £60 million, just before helping Chelsea win the Club World Cup. He scored 15 goals in the Premier League and three in the Champions League. Still, he wasn’t picked by Brazil’s coach Carlo Ancelotti for the World Cup team, which surprised many Chelsea fans.

Ancelotti chose Neymar and Luis Henrique from Zenit St. Petersburg instead, even though Henrique has only scored five league goals in 28 games. Pedro shared on Instagram: “I always tried my best. Sadly, I didn’t get to live my dream of playing in the World Cup, but I’m staying calm and focused. Football brings both joy and frustration. I wish good luck to the players who made it, and I’ll be watching as a fan, cheering for them to win the sixth title.”

Even with a strong season at Stamford Bridge, there’s talk that Pedro might leave after just one year. Reports say Barcelona wants him to replace Robert Lewandowski, and Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the two sides have started talking. Chelsea’s new manager Xabi Alonso might be open to letting Pedro go because he thinks the player could be unhappy if he can’t move, according to AS.

If Pedro leaves, Chelsea could sign Victor Osimhen from Galatasaray to fill the gap. The Nigerian striker joined Galatasaray from Napoli last summer and has been in excellent form, scoring 15 league goals and seven in the Champions League. Chelsea, Barcelona, and Real Madrid are all interested in Osimhen, but Galatasaray wants over £87 million for him, says TEAMTalk.

Despite the news from AS, Romano says Chelsea’s owners, BlueCo, see Pedro as an important player for their future plans. On his YouTube channel, Romano said, “Yes, Barcelona like Joao Pedro and have talked with people close to him, but Chelsea’s position is clear. They want Pedro to stay and be a key part of the team now and in the future, especially with Xabi Alonso as manager. They believe Pedro can do even better next season, so Chelsea definitely want him to remain.”
