England’s preparations for their World Cup opener against Croatia on Wednesday haven’t gone as smoothly as planned because some training equipment was stolen. Players’ boots, footballs, and other gear went missing while being sent from West Palm Beach, Florida, to England’s training base in Missouri. The FA is working with local police to try and get everything back, but the main concern for Thomas Tuchel and the team is that their training has been interrupted as they focus on aiming for a World Cup win.

This would be England’s first World Cup win since 1966, and Tuchel hopes to be the first manager to win the tournament for a country that’s not his own. But just when things seemed on track, there was another hiccup caused by US officials. The team’s chef was stopped from boarding a train from West Palm Beach to Orlando because he had cooking knives with him. The Daily Mail reported that the knives set off a metal detector, and the chef was told he couldn’t bring them on board. Thankfully, the situation was sorted out quickly, and other arrangements were made.

Fans know how important the players’ diet is for performing well, so this could have been a problem. However, since it’s been resolved, everyone can relax knowing it won’t seriously affect the team. Now, England’s focus is firmly on starting the World Cup with a win, facing a strong Croatian team that has done well in recent tournaments.
