Ruben Amorim got some cheers from a part of the Bournemouth fans after he handled a chant at the Vitality Stadium in a great way, even though his AC Milan team gave up their third goal. It wasn’t a great trip back to England for the Portuguese manager, as AC Milan lost 3-0 to Bournemouth in the Europa League.

Justin Kluivert scored an early penalty for Marco Rose’s team, and then Marcus Tavernier and Amine Adli added more goals to seal a strong win for the Premier League side.

This loss means Amorim, who was let go by Manchester United in January after a tough 14 months, still hasn’t beaten Bournemouth in four attempts. In fact, the crowd at Vitality Stadium even sang about one of his past losses.

Back in December 2024, Bournemouth beat a dull United team 3-0 at Old Trafford with goals from Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert, and Antoine Semenyo. That game is clearly a memory Bournemouth fans love to remind others about. Right after Adli scored a brilliant free kick, fans started chanting “Ruben Amorim, it’s happened again” all around the stadium.

Amorim took it in good humor and was seen laughing on the sidelines. Bournemouth fans even gave him a round of applause for being so good-natured, according to BBC reporter Nizaar Kinsella.

Here’s what some fans said on social media about the moment:

One said, “Bournemouth fans singing ‘Ruben Amorim it’s happened again’ is killing me.” Another wrote, “Amorim laughing at the Bournemouth chants hahahahaha.”

Someone else added, “Amorim is so funny, why is he smiling at the chants? He’s losing against Bournemouth,” and another said, “Bournemouth fans singing ‘Ruben Amorim, it’s happened again’ and he’s there smiling. He’s a master at getting under people’s skin.”

Before the game, Amorim shared why he feels like a better coach since leaving Manchester United.

“Since leaving Manchester United, I’ve gone through a different phase in my life,” he told TNT Sports. “I feel like a better coach, not because I changed clubs, but because I’ve made peace with my past experience, and I’m really excited about this new chapter with AC Milan.”

He added, “Starting fresh lets you find peace of mind and move forward. I’m thankful for everything that’s happened—it’s brought me here, and today I’m genuinely happy.”
