Fan scores big by betting on Tyrick Mitchell to net a hat-trick against Fulham
A lucky fan is celebrating an incredible win after betting on Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell to score a hat-trick at 500/1 odds.
Before Saturday’s game against Fulham, Mitchell had only scored six goals in 209 Premier League games, so the idea of him scoring three was pretty unlikely.
Still, the brave punter placed a bet on the left-back to get a hat-trick at Craven Cottage, and it almost happened as Palace came back twice to win 3-2.
Mitchell scored the first two goals but was subbed off in the 74th minute for Ben Chilwell, who scored the winning goal.

For Mitchell, it was the first time he scored twice in a match in his club career and his first goals in the Premier League in 36 games.
After the game, the 27-year-old said it “felt weird” to nearly get a hat-trick. “It was a tough game, they were 2-1 up and we had a lot to do, but I’m happy to contribute and get the win,” he said. “The first goal Eddie [Nketiah] passed it to me and I heard him shout ‘shoot.’ The second was just being in the right place at the right time.”
Palace’s head coach Sage admitted it was a tense afternoon. While he appreciated the win and support from fans, he wasn’t fully happy with their performance. “We needed points and the fans’ energy helped,” he said. “The result is good, but I’m aware of how the game went. We didn’t defend well and have a lot to work on. Still, this win gives us confidence—it’s like putting petrol in a car so we can keep going.”
